the MudPuddLeS
BIO
A three-piece Original Acoustic & Electric Rock, Post-Punk, Folk Punk & Power Pop band.
Band Members: Tyson Arp, Nicholas Pella, & Angela Arp
Born in a basement in the late ‘80’s by the inseparable Tyson Arp (guitar) & Nicholas Pella (drums). Small-town skater outcasts & hopeless romantics, they began crafting songs together with little idea of how it was done, relying on a mono cassette recorder to capture the magic. Drawing heavily from the styles of Violent Femmes & The Dead Milkmen & set into motion by the rough-edged Mojo Nixon, the MudPuddles sound began taking shape.
By ‘93 the catalog of songs had grown, an occasional gig was played, & hours were spent playing in the streets of Omaha & Lincoln. An acoustic bass guitar was acquired, adding to the existing guitar, drums, pots & pans, but a bass player was lacking. Angela (Zikas) Arp agreed to pick up the bass & learn from scratch to fill out the band’s lineup.

As the 3-piece sound developed, electric guitars were purchased & the MudPuddles sound evolved & matured. A few self-produced cassettes emerged in ‘94 & ‘96 showcasing the acoustic roots of the band & the emerging electrified sound. Enthusiasm for the project faded as ‘97 came to a close & the MudPuddles didn’t play together again until 2017.
The following years were spent enjoying the art together again, with a few shows here and there. With encouragement from our family, friends and FANS, the 3 decided that what they were creating was worth capturing. Their EP, EVER HEARD OF LOVE (2020) captures & reimagines some of their earlier songs recorded exclusively with acoustic instruments in the band’s home studio, while their singles FATMAN (2021), DENIAL (2021), BOMBING RANGE (2021), DARK SPACE (2022), MAKE BELIEVE GARDEN (2023), & NOT FEELIN' IT (2024) reflect on their more mature & diverse & genre-bending musical styles.
